According to reports, the central business district of Brisbane Queensland Australian has recently built the world's largest solar pedestrian bridge, and was opened to the public on 4th October.
This bridge called Kurilpa bridge, it is estimated that about 36500 people walking or cycling over the bridge per week. Kurilpa bridge across the Brisbane River, and link Brisbane's central business district and the SouthBank art area together. Kurilpa bridge looks like a knitting needle, it is not only one of the world's longest pedestrian bridge, but also installed an advanced LED lighting systems.
This solar source lighting system can produce variety of lighting effects. The lighting efficiency of LED lighting systems is much higher than other lighting system. LED lighting systems will be used for various of festivals and the river lot lighting, for example, for the River fire Festiva which annual hold on Brisbane River. The bridge has 84 solar battery provides power for the LED lighting arrays, those solar batteries daily output power 100 kwh electricity, the average annual output 38000 kWh. These power is enough to provide the energy needs of the flyover and most lighting.
It report that Kurilpa bridge cost about 63 million U.S. dollars, designed by the Australian CoxArchitects. Kurilpa bridge is claimed the longest bridge in this brige series, which span 470 meters' length and 6.5 meters' width, the bridge thickness of 25 cm. It is estimated that Kurilpa bridge will reduce 37.8 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
