Sharp Announced to Produce a New LED Driver IC IR2E65U in October
Japanese Sharp Corp announced on 28th September that a new IC IR2E65U will available for samples from 1st November 2009, this IC can drive 120 LEDs as backlight for LCD TV and other large-size LCD panels. the sample price is ¥ 250 JPY, and will start mass production on 30th October, estimates monthly production of 60 million. Sharp noted that the LED driver IC with transistor miniaturization, the maximum control 10 Channel (Sharp existing products up to 8 Channel), each capable of driving 12 in-line Channel's LED lights, so the whole LEDs can be driven by the new IC can increase up to 120 that 1.25 times as current IC (referring to the Sharp's existing products). this can cut about 20% of the LED backlight driver IC.
In addition, this LED driver IC can support local dimming technology, can adjust the brightness for individual Channel of the LED light, thus can improve the contrast of liquid crystal display to achieve energy-saving effect.
It is reported that this LED driver IC's input voltage range of 3.0-3.6V, output current 15-70mA/ch, the maximum output voltage is 45V, action temperature is -30 ~ 85 degrees, the size is 7.2x7.2x0.9mm.
